The Flag of Malacca is the flag of the Malaysian state of Malacca. Red, white, yellow and blue, which are the colours of the flag of the Federation of Malaysia, are also used in the flag of Malacca. This shows that Malacca is a member state of the Federation of Malaysia.Some locals assumed that the background of the Malacca flag is red and white stripe which originated from 'The flag of Indonesia'.In 14th century,the flag of Malacca was looks like the Indonesia flag.During Malacca Sultanate period in 14th century,Laxamana Hang Tuah's ship hoisted this type of flag.Since Independent of Malaya on 1957 until now,The star and crescent represents Islam, the religion of the State and of the nation. The top left hand quarter has a background of royal blue with a yellow crescent moon and a yellow five-pointed star. The top right hand quarter is red and the lower half is white represent 'Bangsa Melayu' means Malay race.
