G K Vasan, (Tamil: வாசன்) (Thiru. G.K. Vasan) an Indian political politician,1 is the son of late Veteran Congress leader Thiru.G K Moopanar who later formed his own political outfit in Tamil Nadu known as the Tamil Mannila Congress. After the demise of Thiru.G K Moopanar, the party unanimously elected Thiru.G K Vasan as its leader. After leading the party for some time, he merged his party with the Indian National Congress in the presence of its President Sonia Gandhi at Madurai. Shrimati.Sonia Gandhi named him as the general secretary of the party at the meeting itself. Now Thiru.G K Vasan is the Honourable Minister of State for the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation,India holding Independent Charge of the ministry.
