Personal life

Though born in New Jersey, he moved to Florida sometime during his childhood where by his own admission he grew up on "Star Wars and heavy metal". He has three younger brothers, Westly, Dustin, and Ayden. His mother Dana was formerly a cage dancer for such bands as the Ramones, giving Jeordie famous musical contact.

White has been romantically linked to famous women in music such as Courtney Love, Jessicka of Jack Off Jill and later of Scarling. He adopted his look directly from the original male kinder-whore, Gidget Gein, who was also the original bassist for Marilyn Manson. Jeordie White also borrowed his ex-girlfriend Jessicka's clothing to complete his adopted look. 2

Career

Early in his career, White was in a speed metal cover band called The Ethiopians covering songs such as Metallica's "Trapped Under Ice". Between 1989 and 1993 White played rhythm guitar, bass and provided backing vocals for Amboog-a-Lard.

Marilyn Manson (1993-2002)

White met Marilyn Manson in the early 1990s while working in a used records store in Broward Mall, Ft. Lauderdale. There the two realized they had much in common, but had yet to work on a musical endeavor. He became an honary spooky kid, and went by the groupie name Gordy White. In March 1993, White took part in Manson's side project Mrs. Scabtree.3 Jeordie did not join Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids until Gidget Gein was ejected from the band by the manager in 1994, at the height of the band's popularity. Thus fans were introduced to Twiggy, an obvious Gidget Gein knockoff right down to the multi-colored hair and girl's clothing. White was given the Manson band member name Twiggy Ramirez, which was derived by taking the first name from English supermodel Twiggy and the surname from American serial killer Richard Ramirez. In 1998, White made a cameo in Monster Magnet's music video for "Space Lord". In 2001, White appeared on an MTV Cribs episode: the "Ozzfest Edition". White was an integral part of Marilyn Manson (both in the writing process and image) until he ended his long time musical partnership with Manson on May 29, 2002. It has been said that White quit the band in order to preserve his friendship with Manson rather than quarrel over the band's creative direction, and thought that it was becoming too much of a routine.

After Manson (2003-2007)

After departing the band, he played two live shows with California punk metal band Mondo Generator, and auditioned for the role of second guitar in Queens of the Stone Age, which he lost to Troy Van Leeuwen of A Perfect Circle. He also auditioned for a spot as bass player (after Jason Newsted's departure) in Metallica, which is documented briefly in their film, Some Kind of Monster. Several months later, White replaced Paz Lenchantin in A Perfect Circle, the project of Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan and former Tool guitar tech Billy Howerdel as a full member of the band on bass guitar. White later joined Queens of the Stone Age front man Josh Homme on the ninth and tenth volumes of Homme's music project The Desert Sessions. He also contributed to Melissa Auf der Maur's solo debut.

White assisted in the production of Nine Inch Nails' album, With Teeth, and toured with them during 2005-06 to support the album and then again in 2007 for Year Zero. Jeordie also has his own project with desert-mainstay Chris Goss called Goon Moon, an underground "stoner rock" band. Guitarist Dave Catching is also involved along with Team Sleep/Hella drummer Zach Hill.

White has composed for an eclectic range of artists from fictional band Steel Dragon to Bif Naked to his namesake, model Twiggy Lawson with whom he recorded and produced a duet. In 2005, White worked with Goon Moon and with them released the EP I Got a Brand New Egg Layin' Machine, recorded at Rancho De La Luna, Prescription and Regime Studios. The band released their first full-length album "Licker's Last Leg" in May 2007.

White appeared on the UNKLE album War Stories playing bass and synths on the track "Burn my Shadow".

Return to Manson (2008-present)

On January 9, 2008 Marilyn Manson posted a bulletin on MySpace confirming that Twiggy Ramirez had rejoined the band in place of the recently departed Tim Skold. This has also been confirmed through a post on the Goon Moon Myspace and official Marilyn Manson website. He is currently working with Manson on their seventh studio album, confirmed by Manson in the Steppin' Out magazine and the Goon Moon myspace. However, he is still a member of Goon Moon and will continue working with them after the release and touring of the seventh album. Talking of Twiggy's role on the new album in a Revolver interview, Manson revealed that Twiggy plays all the stringed instruments on the album, as well as some additional keyboards, and has had a major role in the songwriting.

Preferred equipment

While in Marilyn Manson, Jeordie used the following basses, among many things, showing a strong preference for Gibson instruments, and basses used by his classic rock mentors:

  • Jeordie ownes multiple Thunderbirds. During the Guns, God, and Government tour he toured with 5 Thunderbird Basses, most often seen with the pickguard removed, or a plane black pickguard on a black thunderbird. Each bass had different tunings (Standard, BADG and DADG) and was used for different songs
  • 1992 Gibson Thunderbird IV Reverse (seen in the Disposable Teens video; used extensively in live performances from 1998-2002, and once again since his reunion with Manson live on stage in 2008). In 1999, while on Manson's Rock Is Dead tour, Jeordie was honored with the Gibson Thunderbird IV Reverse Goth Edition — a sleek, ebony-colored bass in the Thunderbird IV Reverse style featuring a silver, Gothic-style cross in place of the famous Thunderbird logo (custom made for Jeordie and still sold today). Regardless of version, this model bass is Jeordie's longtime favorite. The original Gibson Thunderbird IV Reverse belonged to Gidget and was stolen by Twiggy, when he played the band's fist major gig in 1993.
  • 1974 Gibson Ripper L9-S Bass (vintage, as seen in The Dope Show video) This guitar was a gift from Gene Simmons who wrote and recorded with the same instrument on KISS's Destroyer album. Jeordie donated this bass to the Hard Rock Cafe in Ottawa, Canada. It is among their most popular pieces of memorabilia on display.
  • 1977 Gibson RD Artist Bass (vintage, as seen in the Dope Hat and Coma White videos). This guitar was sold to a fan through a mutual friend of Jeordie and Manson in 2005 via eBay.
  • BC Rich Widow Bass w/ Widow headstock (seen in the Rock is Dead video).
  • 80's USA BC Rich Warlock bass (4 on a side headstock)Used in live performances from 1998-1999, notably during the first live performance of The Dope Show on the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards.
  • Gibson Les Paul bass. Used live and in the studio. Makes many appearances in early videos (Lunchbox, Get Your Gunn) and saw live use from 1994-1997. This bass was given to Dave Navarro and named "The Beautiful People bass" as Jeordie said it was the bass he used to write the now famous line.

Since parting ways with Manson in 2002, Jeordie has taken up the following models of bass as his favourites:

In addition to the aforementioned bass guitars, Jeordie has used numerous other brands and models of electric and acoustic guitar in writing and recording for each band he's been involved with.
